Since we started our Raise the Floor podcast earlier in the year, we’ve had some remarkable episodes. From nutrition experts to extraordinary entrepreneurs, each guest has shared insights, hard advice, and personal stories that have been nothing short of inspirational. Come with us as we take you through five things we’ve learned so far.
Keep high standards, standard.
Personal branding expert Sam Winsbury, shared a wonderful piece of advice during his visit to the RTF studios. He told Phil to never let other people lower the high standards you’ve set yourself. While it’s tempting to drop standards, the secret to success is making sure you stick to being the best version of yourself.
Hold the ladder up for others
Ex-Dragons’ Den contestant and business person Naomi Timperley’s top tip was to get a mentor (or be a mentor). All you need to do is ask. She believes their influence is the key to success because of the way they hold you accountable for your actions. Not to mention having someone who you can genuinely learn with invaluable guidance.
Raise your standards
Founder of A-Game Consultants, Adam Smith also dropped a fascinating piece of advice during his appearance. Similarly to Sam Winsbury, he suggested that to raise the floor you need to raise your standards. For instance, if you’re a business leader, it doesn’t necessarily mean work more, it just means improving the way you do things, like communication.
Recognise fear
When life coach Danny Donachie joined Phil in the studio, he told us to always recognise your biggest fear. And the best way to do that is by noticing the subtle signs within us of what that fear actually is. That tells us where we need to go next. Once we do, we learn a lot more about ourselves.
Strip it back, ignore the noise
Performance chef, James Farey, reminded us how powerful simplicity can be. His advice was to strip things back and tune out the noise. He also suggested we go back to eating the way we did decades ago by cooking at home, and teaching our kids about real food. Because that’s where we reconnect with what truly matters and find the healthiest version of ourselves.
