We supplied bespoke, durable fibre optic solutions that enabled high speed 4G and 5G coverage across 137 stations and 400 km of tunnels, supporting London’s ambition to become a smarter, safer, and more connected city.
Engineering Challenges
The London Underground presented a complex engineering environment requiring a robust, future proof fibre network to support high speed mobile coverage. The project demanded installation in confined underground spaces with very limited maintenance windows of four hours, alongside exposure to damp, dust, and heat prone conditions. The high fibre count ribbon deployment required rapid, reliable, and safe installation, while all works had to comply with TfL’s strict safety, fire, and material standards.
The fibre optic infrastructure formed a critical part of London’s operational and communications backbone, and any failure or delay could impact network reliability, passenger safety, and future upgrades. Delivering a durable, fully compliant, and quickly deployable solution was therefore essential.
Our Engineered Solution?
We supplied bespoke stainless steel Fibre Optic Splice Enclosures (FOSE) engineered for the challenging underground environment. The enclosures were robust, moisture and dust resistant, and fully compliant with TfL standards. Designed for rapid deployment, they allowed high fibre count ribbons to be installed safely within tight time windows.
We also provided 3D visualisation and site planning support to optimise equipment placement and installation efficiency, ensuring every component arrived ready for installation and fully aligned with technical requirements.

Technical Outcomes
Our solutions enabled the deployment of 2,000 km of fibre cabling and 17,500 radios across the Underground network, delivering reliable high speed connectivity in ticket halls, platforms, and tunnels. The network is scalable for future upgrades to 6G and 7G, providing long term reliability while meeting stringent safety standards.
