Hybrid Solutions Group is helping heat networks across the UK run smarter, cleaner, and more efficiently, with customised maintenance plans and real-time system monitoring that goes far beyond traditional servicing.

By taking a whole-system approach, we’ve helped clients reduce energy waste, cut operational costs, and extend the life of critical infrastructure, all while improving tenant satisfaction and long-term sustainability.

The problem

Heat networks are a crucial part of the UK’s move toward decarbonisation — but too often, they’re not delivering on their promise.

Many systems were originally installed with the idea they’d be “fit and forget.” In reality, we’ve seen a different picture: underperforming HIUs, imbalanced flow rates, poor return temperatures, and CHP units that are either switched off or running inefficiently.

On top of that, maintenance responsibility is often fragmented with different contractors looking after different parts of the network in isolation. Without a joined-up view, small issues in one area can cause bigger inefficiencies across the whole system.

This often means high energy bills, frustrated tenants, and networks that aren’t hitting their carbon-saving potential.

How we’re fixing it for our clients

We’re not just about maintaining systems – we optimise them.

We start with a full system survey and, where needed, a detailed performance investigation. This lets us uncover hidden issues and missed opportunities early on. From there, we design a bespoke Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) package tailored to each site, not just the plant room, but the entire network.

What really sets us apart is our holistic approach. Every engineer on our team looks at the whole picture, making sure that each part of the network supports the performance of the rest. No more siloed maintenance, no more quick fixes that cause bigger problems later.

We’re also rolling out smart heat metering across multiple UK sites. These meters give us live data on flow rates, temperatures, and usage trends so we can spot performance dips, detect energy waste, and take action before problems affect users.

This smart monitoring helps our clients move away from reactive maintenance and into proactive performance management.

For example, live data can flag a suboptimal delta T or overactive equipment, and we can step in with targeted fixes that cut waste, improve efficiency, and keep everything running smoothly.

The result

Our clients are seeing the benefits across the board. Lower energy use and better system reliability means happier residents.

By taking ownership of the entire network, we make heat systems work the way they were always meant to – clean, efficient, and future-ready.

With national coverage, expert engineers, and a focus on whole-system thinking, we’re proud to be helping power the UK’s low-carbon future, one optimised network at a time.
