In June 2023, Hybrid carried out multiple maintenance activities as part of our 8-year M&E maintenance contract at Hindhead Tunnel on the Highways England Area 3 network.

The maintenance activities included visual inspections, procedural tests, and invasive maintenance on HV switchgear and transformers, as well as LV ACB protective devices and distribution panels.

To facilitate the work, Hybrid requested a full closure of the tunnel to allow to carry out multiple maintenance activities in two shifts, rather than spread out over several visits. This allowed us to keep disruption to a minimum, and to produce one concise report for our customer highlighting some previously unknown serious defects, as well as many recommendations for improvement.

Matt Jackson – Tunnel Supervisor

“Hybrid recently carried out HV and LV maintenance during a full closure of the tunnel that was arranged for their works. The report we have received has highlighted some issues with our equipment which we are looking to address as a matter of urgency, as well as some sensible recommendations for improvement which will help us stay within our MORs.

Hybrid carried out maintenance and inspections on this equipment to a higher standard than we’ve previously seen from a maintenance contractor and that’s reflected in their report.”
